Sonakshi Sinha: I do get nervous before film’s release

New Delhi': Sonakshi Sinha understands that the fate of a film is not in one's hands and audience is the final judge, but that doesn't deter her from getting nervous before the release of a new project.

"Every film has its own journey in your life, and holds importance. I do get nervous before a release, like anyone," Sonakshi told IANS when asked if she has the same amount of anxiety almost a decade later, as she had when her first film released.

"I learned quite early in my career to not take it too seriously, since the fate of a film is not in your hands. You do your best and give your 100 per cent and rest is up to the audience eventually," she added.

Sonakshi, daughter of actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, entered Bollywood with Salman Khan's "Dabangg" in 2010. She credits Salman for making her realise her "true calling".

"'Dabangg' is what made me realise what my true calling is. I never thought I would end up being an actor till Salman told me that I am doing this film. But from Day one on set I knew this is where I belong. So the franchise is like homecoming for me," she said.

Talking about her bond with Salman, the actress said: "My bond with him goes beyond a professional relationship of co-actors. I knew him before I started acting. Our families have known each other for a long time now, and I have known him more as a friend than a co-star."

After making a successful debut with "Dabangg", she has starred in hits such as "Rowdy Rathore", "Lootera" and "Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty". However, many of her films like "Tevar", "Akira", "Noor", "Force 2" and "Kalank" fared below expectations, too.

She returns as Rajjo with "Dabangg 3". Directed by Prabhu Deva, the Salman Khan-starrer also features Arbaaz Khan, Amole Gupte, Mahie Gill, and Tinnu Anand. Preity Zinta makes a special appearance, and the film marks the debut of actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar's daughter Saiee Manjrekar. "Dabangg 3" is scheduled to open on December 20.

Asked if she fears getting trapped in the Rajjo image, Sonakshi said: "Not at all! End of the day it was my first film and I take it in a positive stride that I made that kind of an impact on some."

Sonakshi says she has evolved as an artiste with experience. "I have been lucky enough to have worked on films from different genres enhancing my experience," she said.

She is quite active on social media, and seems to have mastered the art of tackling trolls over the years. However, she admits he used to be affected by the trolls initially.

"I have now grown to let social media be a source of communication with me and my fans, conveying what I want," she said.

Sonakshi Sinha: Would feel odd romancing a 22-yr-old if I was 50

Mumbai: Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who is gearing up for "Dabangg 3", says she would feel odd romancing a 22-year-old if she was 50, unlike her co-star Salman Khan, who will be seen romancing 21-year-old Saiee Manjrekar in the upcoming film.

Sonakshi was talking to quint.com, where she talked about how older male stars consistently feature opposite much younger female actors.

Asked about how the age gap between male and female stars is just becoming bigger and bigger, Sonakshi said: "Oh wow! If you put it that way, but would you want to see Madhuri Dixit romancing Ishaan Khatter?"

The actress said Madhuri romancing Ishaan would be "a bit odd".

Why is it not odd when Salman Khan is romancing a 21-year-old? Why is it odd when Madhuri Dixit is romancing an Ishaan Khatter?

"I don't know, actually. I have not thought of it that way," Sonakshi said.

Sonakshi said one should ask Salman as to why he keeps romancing younger girls.

"You should ask him only to know? What is he eating or what is he doing to keep looking so young and keep romancing the younger girls with every film," she said.

Has she ever thought about this? "No, actually I haven't because, for me, it's a job, right? And hats off to him for having sustained a career for so long in the industry, and you know, still working with as much gusto as he did, initially. And I think it's great to have achieved something like that. So if you have a problem with it, you should go and ask him," she said.

When asked that people are not accepting women doing the same thing, Sonakshi said: "Honestly, if I was, I was at an age of 50, I would feel odd romancing a guy who's 22-years-old."

Salman Khan on ‘Dabangg’ row: People seeking 2 minutes of fame

Mumbai: Superstar Salman Khan, who returns in his popular cop avatar of Chulbul Pandey in "Dabangg 3", has reacted to the ongoing storm over the "Hud hud Dabangg" song saying a certain section of people is trying to gain publicity by dragging the number unnecessarily into a controversy.

"I am glad people consider it (Dabangg 3) a big film. Earlier, we did a film ("Bajrangi Bhaijaan"), there was a controversy regarding its title but it was dismissed. So, such controversies are part and parcel of this industry. I don't think there is anything objectionable in the film because of which a controversy can be created," said Salman, at the launch of the "Munna badnaam hua" song of "Dabangg 3" in Mumbai on Saturday evening.

"It ("Hud hud Dabangg") is our song since the beginning. People are just trying to get two minutes of fame by linking themselves with us. They try to gain some publicity out of it and they get it too. Fans also support them. So, it's good. I don't have any issues with it," added the star, who was accompanied at the event by Warina Hussain, who shakes a leg with him in "Munna badnaam hua", as well as Saiee Manjrekar, who makes her debut opposite him in the film, apart from the film's director Prabhudheva, composers Sajid-Wajid and producers Arbaaz Khan, Bhushan Kumar and Nikhil Dwivedi.

"Dabangg 3" landed in controversy when a Hindu outfit and sections of social media objected to a sequence in the title song "Hud hud Dabangg" that shows saffron-clad sadhus dancing with guitars. The outfit, Janajagruti Samiti, also sent a letter to the censor board demanding the censor certificate of the film be cancelled, even as #BoycottDabangg3 had trended on social media earlier this week.

Asked if he planned to take forward the "Dabangg" franchise after the third film, he said: "We stopped talking about aDabangg 3' much before we started making it. We have started talking about aDabangg 4'. Right now, we have just announced aRadhe' and after that, there will be something else."

In first "Dabangg", Malaika Arora did the aMunni badnaam hui' song and in the second part Kareena Kapoor Khan gyrated to "Fevicol se". In "Dabangg 3" Salman Khan turns item boy for "Munna badnaam huaa, and grooves with Warina Hussain and Prabhudheva.

"We tried to destroy this song actually. We tried to make it worse than the first one but it just turned out well! God has been on our side. We were looking for a 'tode' (befitting reply) of "Munni badnaam hui", and suddenly one day -- at about 1:30 in the morning -- I called up Arbaaz (Khan) and told him that I have the 'tode' of "Munni badnaam hui". So, he came home in an excited manner and I spent an hour with him, after which I told him "Munna badnaam hua" so, on which he abused me and went home," recalled Salman, laughing.

"Dabangg 3" is scheduled to release December 20.
